RONCO hook strainer....Model 4U2P...........Nicknamed the "Captain Hook"Notorious for injuries to a drummers' ring finger when engaging the mechanism.Said drummer would get his Aardvark Legioneers' Club ring "hooked" on the "J", and through the natural reaction of shaking his finger to become "unhooked" cause himself sometimes severe knuckle damage. After losing several drummers to these career-ending injuries, the Model 4U2P was discontinued. Most known existing examples were smelted out of existence in a ceremonial purging at the Chelsea Hotel back in '72. This one looks to be in good+ condition, and is an impossibly rare find, perhaps even the only known example to surface in the past 15 years or so.I would keep it, but never use it.... it's just too risky.:)

Thank's for the info but do I have to take this Model 4U2P.... seriously??? Or is it a joke (for you to p......??) English is not my native language so "getting jokes" is kinda hard for me

No. That was a joke. It's clearly not a Ludwig part. It's a foreign knockoff of a Ludwig Classic lug -except much more rounded. The mechanics are extremely primitive and simple. It could be European or Asian. I've never seen one. I kinda like it. It's a GREAT idea insofar as meshing the strainer design with (supposedly) some matching lugs. Very cool! THANKS FOR SHARING!

Yep, just a joke...

I think it's a modified Japanese made Lug. Looks like a DIY job, although it looks like it came out nicely and considerable time was spent on it.

hmmmm.....

Any chance that it's not a drum part?

Maybe off of a boat or something? Like an eyelet hook to fasten a tarp cover...?

idk - just trying to think outside the drum box.

Part of a vintage trailer? a hook for the awning?

It does look manufactured, not modified. What's the whole story on how you came to get it and from where?

Maybe we're all being to drum-centric. Aaaa stinkin' drummers Excited

...but when he played on his drum, he made the stars explode....

This is home made. If I was going to make it, I would just use a hack saw for the two down cuts. Then take a channel lock and break the side pieces off.

Look closely at the metal under the wheel. There is no way that a factory would leave it like that.

I will say like others that it was a creative approach to solving a strainer problem.

Also, take it apart and photo all of the pieces and the edges where the cuts are. When you supersize the photos you see the rough edge.

Ah kevins, kevins, kevins...

That was funny. I think it's a 4u2p-c. The chrome version. The other was just painted pale yellow.

Actually, I think it's a snod tensioner.Yes Sir

Thanks fishwaltz,

And Sister An, I did not mean to offend, only to interject a little humor.

When I throw in a "smily" (:)) that usually means I'm trying to be funny, however, sometimes I fail............
