I was at Sam Ash recently and they had a nice display of the new Avedis "signature" cymbals. Not sure if that's the official name but they just say "Avedis" like his signature on the top. Color is dark, like they went for an aging heat treatment or something. Maybe that's what they do.

They had six or so out and amazingly, I think I would like four of them. That's unheard of for me to have so many new cymbals working for me. Even the recently discontinued Constantinople line had a lot of duds in my opinion. I think they are really close to the coveted EAK cymbals we all cherish now. They are really buttery feeling and warm. Like really well used/loved thin cymbals you just can't part with. They had a 22" ride there that was of particular interest due to how well it crashed. Dark due to thinness not due to over hammering. Pricing is not stupid either- I dare say reasonable for these cymbals. Not for metal heads or those who prefer the 2A oak drumsticks but for the rest of us...

Anyway, just wanted to see what others thought of them.

I've played quite a few, they're really something special. If you're playing in an acoustic situation and aren't leaning toward the "trashy" part of the continuum, I daresay these are the finest new cymbals available today.

Not that I have been testing a lot of cymbals, but you may be right.

I'm on the lookout for more EAK's but these are very special indeed. Finally the Zildjian train is back on the right track!

I had the local drum shop give me a call when they got these in. Tried em all out, liked em a lot. Problem is the store can't just order/stock 50 cymbals, so there was only one of each size, not even all the sizes. I'd want to try a whole bunch before buying....guess I'd need to visit the factory....

Hopefully I'm wrong and someone will come along and say "call so-and-so and ask for a tour!"

Great cymbals.. They're competing with the Paiste Giant Beats and Big Beat series as their version of the "multi-purpose" cymbal.. They even have a similar finish to the Giant Beats.. I'm a Paiste guy, so i'm gonna stick with my GB, but these are great ! ;)

If i were to make a switch to Zildjian, these would be the cymbals i'd go for..

I have heard sound files for the 21 & 22 crash/rides... They both sound very nice... I do not know how they compare in price to Sabian's, I can say that the sound & vibe of the 22" is very close to that of the "Big Bad & Ugly" series 22" that I purchased around 6 months ago..

The Sabian's were very well priced...

I'll have to check those out too!

I was close to going with Paiste signatures when I discovered a (ab)used set of k custom dark 13" hats. They are awesome. Made me look at others in that line and I bought a 20" ride and 18" crash.
