[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]And here she is, all clean and fresh smelling, just like todays' laundry. It has 2 or three minor issues to deal with before it is 100%. One lug has hex nuts inside, so the lug is "free floating" at the moment, and it needs a muffler. It really could use a better strainer, but after a good cleaning, it functions the way it should. I worked all evening on it because one of the re-rings had come loose, so out with the Bondo....I mean epoxy. That took all of 15 minutes and a backache. Since it is already too late, I will have to wait til morning to test drive it. The truth is, I picked up two additional snares to go along with the heavy luan snare that came with the Majestics. This 3 ply, and the ever trusty round badge Made In Japan chrome job. It is going to really sound like a better drum than the name suggest once I get time to tweak it a bit. It sounds pretty cool right now. I am about to make a sacrilegious statement, so all of you purist turn your eyes...;-) This steel snare sounds like an Acrolite in need of a little tiny bit of tuning. Someone took a lot of time and used up considerable resources and head jobs, because it has that little bit of crack that says "Let me out, I need space to travel and ears to split."
The batter head on this one is almost new, with very little wear. I washed it in the sink, (yeah, that's what I said) and look at that, looks like a two week old head It also has new wires, the ever so loving cheapos they sell on the bargain wall at the shop. Now Thursday night, we are gonna take the steel one apart and see if it has any unique features, or maybe a name hidden inside of it's casings. I wasn't kidding about the throw off, if anyone has a decent old one they have laying around in the junk bin, let me know, I'd like to change this one. And one of those Japanese round mufflers would be nice too.... This little gem sounds good for what it is, and afterall, it is a Pearl 3 ply shell
