Musical Instrument Stores in Columbus, OH

Loading...

My wife and I are going to Columbus for a couple of days next week. I'm planning on going to Columbus Percussion. Any other stores you might recommend? I also play guitar and bass, so I'm open to places that go beyond drums and percussion. I'm already planning on hitting Sam Ash---the ones that I've been to have generally been nice and well stocked.

That's my hometown.

For drums, Columbus Percussion will serve you well. I believe it's still owned by Jim Rupp. When I lived there, they did fine work on my first Slingerland set and more recently shipped a kit I bought in Michigan to me in California for a more than fair price.

I'm told that Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop downtown might be worth a look.

If you're able to, drive out to Bexley for some Rubino's pizza. Not much ambience—it's like stepping back into the 1950s—but their ultrathin crust pizza is superb with excellent pepperoni. It may not be to everyone's taste, but it's what I grew up with.

It's a nice city. The art museum just did a renovation (my mom's a docent). PM me if you'd like more recommendations.

Thanks for the heads up---it looks like Uncle Sam's has a pretty extensive musical instrument department. The Vintage Tequila Sunrise Vista's look pretty drool-worthy.

Uncle Sams has a big department, but the prices are ridiculous. Last time in there they had a pretty beat up 1967 acrolite priced at $400.

There are 2 Musicgorounds in Columbus. The Bethel road one has been very good to me. Some great drum equipment goes through there. All a matter of timing and luck though.

1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)

Sounds like Uncle Sam's is a "look and leave" if the price of that Acro is representative. I'll definitely will check out the Music Go Round. I've had some good dealings with the one in Toledo OH---picked up a very nice Epi Les Paul 60's Tribute that was B stock for $450 with case there. Thanks for the heads up!
