Tama Superstar 6.5x14 birch Mastercraft snare drum in cherry wine

Loading...

I just picked up this nice 80's Tama snare drum

To round out a group of Superstar orphans

that I have been slowly gathering over the last few years

The drum needs cleaning and some general tlc and is hurting most

for one original lug casing, which was replaced at some point

with what I believe to be an Artstar model lug

Are these lugs hard to find?

I did read that these snare drums were produced in fairly large numbers back in the day

That odd one is an Artstar lug ( I think Granstars used them as well ) Haven't personally looked for a lug, but I would assume it isn't that hard to track one down.

Didn't tama stain the inside to match the outside?

Nice drum... I have it's '84 Rosewood Nephew... Same hardware as yours except for the (internal section) of the muffler... mine has just one pad.

Have not seen those lugs up for grabs, but will keep you in mind if I do.

I have recently had a few offers to buy mine...but it is not leaving my side......Ever...

Cheers

John

I know this is true of toms and bass drums. But I don't think it was with the snares. I'm not 100%, but I can't recall any snare interiors being stained as well. Though ( and maybe It's me ) but the the interior shot I don't think is of the Tama. The Tama if you'll notice has the white strap attached to the snares. On the interior shot, you'll notice the snares are attached using screws ( Radioking Style ) And from what I see of the internal tone control, also screams Slingerland.

I was wondering the same thing. Now that he has the correct pics, I think its safe....

Ken, those lugs come up occasionally on eBay, not cheap....
