Hi i have a couple of cracked cymbals i want to get opinions on about drilling or milling out the crack. Both have been passed down to my son to beat on but the 15 still sound pretty good except for an occasional distortion but not bad overall.
The first is a 15 A crash with a 1" crack that has not moved since i've owned it about 14 years. Should i leave it alone or drill the two ends?
Second a 16" A crash that is just bad (buzzes a lot) but still playable. I thought of milling out the crack but do you think it will improve it enough so my son can get some useable sound out of it.
BTW i was going to do it by hand since i have mad skills with a die grinder due to years of porting and polishing cylinder heads!
Gary.
