What Famous Drummers Played The Super Classic?????

Loading...

Okay I'm putting together a magazine on my 1964 Super classic and for one of the pages I'm going to write about who played the Super Classic outfit. If you can state what year/years they played the model and the finish that would be great to.

Thanks ahead of time.

Charlie Watts played a sky blue pearl Ludwig super classic in the early part of the stones career. I think Mick Avory played a gold sparkle one with the kinks. I think the guy from badfinger played a left handed one.

Charlie Watts is both the worst and luckiest drummer of all time.

70s Slingy WMP
70s Ludwig Standard Aqua Mist
60s Ludwig Champagne Sparkle Downbeat
and a whole bunch of snares and hardware

Lucky for being in the Stones...yes....the worst....I think not....

You need to explain your reasonings as to why you think he's the worst dummer.....

The intro to "Honky Tonk Women" pretty much blows that statement out of the water. As far as lucky, I think his yearnings were to have been a bop drummer in NYC in the 50's.

---------------------------------------------------------

Plenty of great drummers used whatever they got the best deal to use - free drums, free drums plus money, whatever they could bargain for.

Funny too how back "in the day", talking 60's and 70's, a 22x14 kick was "the one" and nowadays it doesn't seem to generate much excitement.

This fact saved me money when buying my own set of Gretsch drums. 22" is fantastic for rock. Send those 22s all my way!

+1 on the Charlie Watts comment as well.

PS, my brother just got a Super Classic set of early 60s Ludwig BSP with a 22". I can't wait to channel Little Red Rooster on it.
