I'm curious if anyone can tell who this kit was made by. It's been slightly modified with wood kick hoops, newer t-rods, a Ludwig throw off, cymbal holder and the wrap was removed. The shells are thin with no rings and a grey interior, thanks.

i would say this is a Star made kit. it has the same description of the Star kit i did the tie dye with.

mine too was modified with Ludwig mounts which fit perfectly with no redrilling. very nice looking kit and i bet it sounds pretty good too.

ps. is that a 10 lug snare? mine came with a 10 lugger.

Hi Robyn, that's an eight lug snare and it sounds great as does the whole kit.

Hi Mark, so is this the kit you bought a few weeks back, the one that opened your eyes/ears to mij kits? if so, it is a very nice sounding kit, i listened/watched the

video you posted.

Pearl, Battleship lugs, late 60s, early 70s. I'm a Guru, dammit.

I have never seen grey interiors on a Pearl. Thanks for the pic....more informed now.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Ya, the very one, however, it's being sold next week to fund the champagne sparkle Slingerland kit Trouty is selling. But, I'm keeping the snare, it sounds too nice to let go. I do love this MIJ kit and somewhere down the road I'll probably pick up another one. I wanted to get back to Ludwig, Slingerland or Rogers and since I only need two kits, this one is going to a new home.

Take off some lugs, if the nuts in the lugs are retained with springs, the kit is more than likely Star, if the nuts sit captive in a slot they are more likely Hoshino, the bass drum lugs look hoshino? star and ludwig leg mounts are the same dimensions and star had grey painted interiors.
