Vintage Pearl Fiberglass '77

I wondered if someone can shed more light on this set I'm planning to sell. I just talked to the salesman at Pearl head quarters who has been there for 30 years , and he tells me the all fiberglass sets are rare. More of the wood/fiberglass around, seldom if ever have I seen a set like mine, the description in the catalog says this.

" A sensational discovery in drum construction , non-porous, no aging, yet the strongest material impervious to moisture. It produces sensitive and brilliant sound with the perfect tonal response on all dynamics"

the condition of this set like mint, like brand new on all levels

any feedback welcome

The newer version is selling well, so i would imagine having an original would be even more advantageous. The construction is slightly different, but the sound is phenomenal, and similarly loud as hell !

If i were thinking of getting a Pearl kit, it would be that series..

BillnVick here at VDF is a knowledgeable Pearl fiberglass guy as he recently sold his prized lifelong 70s kit.

What they said in the catalogue is fairly accurate... This period of time they offered most kits with the shell option of Fibreglass, or Wood Fibreglass. The Fibreglass shell has the reputation of being very loud and easy to tune..

Nice kit! Top of the price list and sure don't see them very often. Sorry can't help further. Haven't seen that tom holder before. Looks like a larger version of the cymbal stand mounts on my wood/fiberglass kit.

Hope you get better feedback than mine:-)

Nothing special here but I like them.

Do you think $850 is a fair price for this set?

sizes are 24/13/14/18

That 24 and 18 are more rare than the standard 22 and 16. You also have the newer style tom holders. The older ones were hex bars... which can break and be a pain to replace. Original front head? That is a sweet looking set. Yeah, that is more than fair. But I really like them. If I didn't already have a set I'd be asking "When can I pick them up?"

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.

I'd be real surprised if it brought that kind of money, only because of the choices out there at that price point. But hey you never know.

Looking for a late 80's to early 90's, preferably Arctic White Pearl MLX 14x14 floor tom.

Yes. Context, too.

Gotta sell to the right market. Rare ALL fiberglass... KISS Peter Criss... etc.

Where are you going to sell it? Online? Locally? Reverb, Ebay? If you sell it locally you probably won't get anything near that.

How long are you willing to wait?

Are you willing to ship?

Etc.

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.
