Modern club date tom mount?

So I have a '66 Club Date kit that I bought from forum member Surface a couple of years ago. Fantastic kit for gigging! I love it! Sometimes I mount the tom on the bass drum rail; other times I just use a snare stand.

My question is, I see that Ludwig makes the more modern rail mount for their newer drums.. I do not want to (and will not) drill holes to accommodate the new rail.. but, if I was to by a new rail would that tom arm/post fit around the original rail itself? It pains me at times, when setting up, to fiddle around with a 7/16" wrench tightening and loosening. It can be time consuming when in a bit of a hurry to get the rack tom in the position that I like.

Sorry for my ramble.. I hope i explained that well enough.

On some of my rails I removed that nut with a wing nut to avoid having to get out the little wrench. Honestly not sure if the newer arm would fit the older bracket. Hole wise yes they are very different. But I truthfully cannot speak for the little arm.

The new rail as pictured on a modern Club Date kit is knurled, the old style is smooth chrome [or nickel], so if the new link requires that knurling to grab and hold, there may be an issue using it on an old rail. That said the "Atlas" model is smooth chrome, so...

The new rail appears a bit fatter than the old, but hard to be certain from pics, and I couldn't find actual specs for either...

BTW I just bought a little socket wrench for this purpose, much quicker than a standard wrench.

you know.. that's actually a good idea. I can just keep an extra one with me in my hardware bag.
