I recently picked up this kit for next to nothing to use as a "beater kit" at my rehearsal studio. I've been told that it's a mid-80s Swingstar. The bass drum has two different sets of claws and rods. I'm trying to determine if either set would have been original equipment. Any "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
80s TAMA SWINGSTAR?
None of them are original! Also the wrap seems to be a re-wrap, because as far as i know satin flame wraps where not made by Tama at that time! Still a good kit to look at:-) -looks nice!

Thanks for the input, Christian! I was aware that the kit was a re-wrap when I picked it up. I grabbed it because it brought back great memories of my 1970 Slingerland blue satin flame kit. I appreciate the information regarding the t-rods and claws. Would you happen to have a pic of what the original ones look like?
HY
they look like this!

Great kit! The lugs look 1982'ish. Zolex interiors? I have a set, nice drums. Sure-loks on the tom arms is first tip that comes to mind.

Batter side claws and rods look are early 80's Ludwig Rockers and resonant head side look like 80's Pearl Export.. Wrap is obviously not original, but still nice looking (little to flashy for my taste).. Your kit could also be an early 80's Royalstar., as both early Swingstar and Royalstar had the pointed lugs, which incidentally, fit a lot of Ludwig's hardware at the time.
>>It's Zola Coat
Then early 1980's Swingstars. Never will be able to tell exact without the original badges. Matters not the kit will boom serious. Enjoy.
