Bump? Still confused on what this thing is. I do now know that it is drilled for Gretsch lugs, the spacing for the butt plate side is 2 1/4" (I know this is the spacing for a P-32 buttplate), the top hole and the bottom (size of a vent hole) of the 4 point strainer area fits a Slingerland Rapid Strainer, and by extension, whatever fits that spacing. Still doesn't explain the two extra holes drilled in between them.

Anyone able to guess what this shell might be, or a date? Wahlberg and Auge? NOS Radio King Shell drilled for Gretsch lugs? It's definitely a 3-ply with maple on the inner. Outer looks like maple as well.

I see a Slingerland shell, maybe not RK. Looks like it had a zoomatic strainer on it. Likely had the soundking lugs on it. This is right before the RK series died I believe.

Thanks for your help. It definitely doesn't fit the Sound King lugs, but does fit Gretsch lugs, oddly enough. Any chance it was just a late drilling of a later NOS shell someone scored?

It could fit the Beavertail lugs. Maybe they used the remainder of those with the newer Zoomatic. Maybe a custom order? We've seen a few odd birds fly through.

Looks like it had a RK muffler on it. Possibly a clam shell bolt pattern with some extra holes.

+1 with the above. I do see an RK muffler and clam shell holes. Not really sure if it's a Slingerland shell or not.

It's not Gretsch - it has rerings and is unpainted inside. Radio King maybe, tough call. I'd need a better look at the interior.

Reason I was thinking Zoomatic as opposed to Super " Clamshell " is how the holes are lined up. The Zoomatic has the larger hole on the bottom with two screw hols above. The super is the opposite. And typically with the super, it would be the same on both sides, as opposed to an actual butt plate. Shell wise I'm 100% on it being Slingerland, between the rings and just the pattern of the wood grain.

Found a photo of each online to show the lineup for the holes.

I think this was an in between model. Likely mid 50's when they were making the switch between the hardware and lugs. The badge would have said it all.

@ARCHxANGEL, it does look like it's drilled for both. Nice observation. Thanks for everyone's responses. I was thinking anywhere between late 30's and mid 70's (as I didn't know much about the drum at all), so it's nice to have it narrowed down further.
