Weighing cymbals

Loading...

I noticed everyone uses grams as the weight for cymbals that weigh several pounds. I am going to weigh mine and since I am not a cartel kingpin nor a cymbologist, I don't have a scale that reflects grams as a weight.

Can I simply stand on a scale and note my weight, then hold a cymbal and assign the cymbals weight as the difference, then convert the difference from ounces into grams?

I was wondering how everyone here knows what the weights are in grams and this was the only way I could figure other than buying a special scale, which I am not going to do.

One U.S. Pound is equivalent to 453.59237 grams. You could use two significant digits beyond the decimal place and round it up. That would really nail it.

Thanks!! I will go get my pizza boxes out of the attic and weigh em up then look up some older threads and see if mine are light, heavy or whatever.

Thanks again.

C'mon, man! We're musicians, we always have access to scales.....Well, I used to have access, before I grew up and all that...
