Interesting set. Pictures are a bit fuzzy. Double bass, cool badges, no snare. Thought 'WOW' when I saw it, so shared.

Very cool! These are actually Star drums from around 1970. The tom holders were Swivomatic clones, called Fre-O-Matic! Wonder if Star ran into any patent problems, as these were only available for about one year.

Too bad about converting the double-headed toms into concert toms. Finding the same style lugs might be a tall order. Still, a nice, rare, kit!

I'm glad somebody agrees! Cool wrap, big gaudy logo plates, and a double bass set up. How often do MIJ double bass kits come up? Take those out and you'd at least get any drummer in the audience coming up to you and asking, "what the heck...?" Maybe not 'collectible,' but fun.

Yes, definitely Fantasia Pearl, which are really called Pearl Fantasia! Attached is a picture of this model, wrapped in Pearl Fantasia, from the 1972 Star catalog. Only difference are the 20" bass drums. What a cool kit!

He's been trying to sell this kit for about a year now, started at 1500 IIRC...

He quoted me over $1,200 to buy and ship them

obviously this was for him to simply unload them still fully assembled

at some shipping company where they would then do the packing

I realize that aside from the Fantasia Pearl wrap that the double bass drums is what makes the kit so unique

but for myself, I would much prefer the missing snare rather the second bass drum

I did not have the energy to try and explain the disassembly and nesting process

or the savings by doing so even with the two bass drums

so simple for most us here ...so overwhelmingly undoable to many sellers

Between the distance, the shipping situation, the five change price, the missing resonant side lugs, rods, and hoops

Not to mention the missing snare drum, they were just not worth all the trouble

on top of that ..I am not sure but they look like they have yellowed from cig smoke to me

That all said, if they were within a reasonable drive distance from me that would be a whole different story
