They have the Cherry in the 86' Catalog, as well as the 20" bass drum. Same as with the hanging toms. The top left kit is the sizes you have without the 8". From what I can see in the catalog the normal toms were 8"- 15", the power recording toms were 10" - 16". Then the standard 14"- 18" floor toms.
I am also assuming that drums could be a la carted as well. I'm excited to get the kit but a little nervous about the smaller sizes.
The kit I occasionally play on at the studio in town is smaller sized. 20" bass,12" tom and a 14" floor tom. But man does that kit punch. My only issue is the floor tom doesn't like to stay in tune ( could just be his tom ) but the bass and 12" are always on point. I'm 50/50 with smaller sized drums myself. But the Recording Customs are ( from my experience ) good solid drums with a nice tuning range. And when I get that 14" floor tom in tune, man is it a nice deep tone. 14" in size, 16" in sound.

Due to the lugs and the stain finish Yamaha only used on the 9000 series, I´d say they are recordings.
To be sure completely, the badges will tell you - for example the number of the 10" should start with "TT910RC" for the normal depth sized toms, "TT910RF" for the Recording Power series w/the deeper sized shells (as far as I know).
The "double badging thing" that Jay mentioned has been done on their other series also - I´m mostly sure they did this to make sure the badge is visible, independent of the setting position of each drum.
I currently use a late80´s/early 90´s Recording Power kit in the same finish as yours (called "Cherry Wood", purchased it second hand back in ´93) in 20-8-10-12-14-16", all mounted toms, Remo PinStripes on all drums except the snare - the sound of these tubbies will never disappoint you, no matter if in live or studio situation. They surely do judge to their name - "Recording".

Congrats to this deal you made, and glad you got hold on a kit with (as it seems according to your pics) the standard sizes - you´ll simply love that sound! Don´t worry about the smaller sizes - they truly sound bigger than they are.

The drums just came and I am extremely excited. They ended up being standard sizes (not the power sizes). I believe the sizes are 7x8, 7x10, 8x12, 10x14, 12x15 with 14x20. There are dings and nicks throughout, but they look amazing. The only real issue is that one of the bass drum hoops has crack that was glued and set back in place using two clamps (top and bottom). It seems to hold well and works just fine. I was able to negotiate all new heads top and bottom and a new Yamaha tom mounting stand for the two toms that go on the bass drum. I have a twin tom mounting stand already for the floating floor toms and an extra tom mount for the 7x8. I will be able to set up the entire kit tonight and play it. I'll take some pics and post. These are definitely the Recording Customs and appear to be from the early/ mid 80's. Cant wait. If anyone has a matching snare drum please let me know.
