Johnny Ringo-shame about that...sounds like you were unlucky mate...all my Luxus kits sound great and the bass drum never causes me any problems even when they are miked up and sound really full...Would agree that the conical bass drums sound not very full but both the Luxus and Speedfire kits sound fab....did your kit have a damper on it?How much did you tighten the t-rods on the bass drum head-if you over-tightened them then the sound would be a lot less and not as full mate.....Back to the gold croc Telstar...pleased to say that as yet there is not another from this year that I have found .. so really pleased to have added this one to my ever growing collection....

I guess it's just a matter of taste. I didn't over tighten the kick, never do and yes, it had the damper on it. Even the toms were not to my liking and I used the same kind of coated Ambassador heads I use on all the kits I've owned. I've never had a problem getting any Rogers kit to sound good and so after selling the Trixon, I found another Rogers. i'd actually like to find a Telstar, because I think they look so cool, but I know those are pretty pricey.

Hi Johnny...

what Luxus kit did you have a 20 or 22" bass drum? and what lugs was it?

you are right the Telstars look fab, the floor and rack sound great, but the bass drum is not as full as the luxus or speedfires...

Yep, you're right the price is very high and has gained popularity in the past 2 years which doesn't help...
