In Rob Cook's Slingerland book, it states the Ray McKinley tom tom holder came out in 1947. Did it have a two-hole mounting footprint at that time? And, if so, when did it change to the four-hole footprint?

Thanking all in advance!!!!

Yes, it did have the 2 hole pattern at first. As far as when the change came...dang...I'm not sure. The 4 hole pattern is shown on kits from the 50's. It didn't last too long. I have one on that 20 inch Mutant bass. It's a pretty good mount for a small tom. You can swap the clip mount for the typical knurled L-arm. Nice feature.

Thanks Mcjnic!!

My 56-59 Slingy bass has a partial two-hole mount that needs replacing.

If I drill (ouch) two holes, then the four-hole version I have does match up with the existing two holes. So as long as the four-hole could be correct as well, I'd be good to go.

So, part of the question remains... when did the change occur?

Still open for help!!

My 61 bass has the two hole. It also has a pair of McKinley bass drum mufflers, for what it's worth.
