I think that the starting bid on this one might be just a trfle too high...and I think the same might also be said for the seller:
Too high?
Four thousand dollars for $350 worth of cymbals??? DOH
I will let mine go for $3,500 and ship them for free!! Hell, I may deliver them for three and a half stacks!!
I like this part...
" SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY!
THESE ARE COLLECTOR ITEMS
NOT FOR PLAYING
please ask for any questions you may have"
It seems to me, for four grand, you should be able to play them if you want to.
For four grand, I better be able to eat a doggone salad on 'em if I so choose. They are nice cymbals, though. Again, as I stated in the other thread...
this one is more than likely new to the bay...as the zero next to the name divines. Hopefully, they will realize the mistake and relist at an appropriate level. Heck, I've done this. I didn't have a clue when I first hit the bay. It took some learning curves and some growing pains to "get it". I'm sure they will adjust soon enough.
The main clue was the line dds4 quoted: "These are collector items"
That's somewhat incorrect. If this were a collector, then that person would be aware of the phrasing of that statement. This sounds like someone who does not have the baseline to understand the vintage cymbal market. No harm no foul. I'm sure it's innocent. I wish them well and sincerely hope they adjust this before it's too late. Those are pretty cool cymbals.
You guys are nuts - The "illuminated custom acrylic case" is worth $4k alone!!!
I'm bidding!!
For four grand, I better be able to eat a doggone salad on 'em if I so choose.
I'm glad to hear someone express that opinion, which I also share. But on Cymbalholic more than a few are of the opinion that the drumming community has a right to dictate how someone else should or should not use their cymbals even that though that someone paid his own money to buy them.
To quote a remark made by one of one of them:
"....it's everyone's business".
And I eat salads and even gourmet dinners off of mine on a regular basis. But it helps if you plug up the bellhole first.
It's probably best I not visit that site. I'm not real keen on having someone dictate "our" best interests for my property. Wow. I've not heard that. Oh well...to each his own. And on that note, I'm off to drill my WFL bass for that sweet new Pearl double mount, sandpaper my Blue Label ride to get it "just so", and of course rewrap my wood DynaSonic in HotPink Swirl. Later gators.
