1966 Brass Supra-phonic:$50

This snare cleaned up perfectly. It looks mint! I will be sure to post some pictures later.

WFl 1121 Flat Based Hi-Hat Stand:$10

Ludwig 1968 1400 Cymbal Stand:$10

Ludwig 1968 Flat Based Snare Stand:$10

Ludwig Speed King:$30

1967 Gold Sparkle 20 inch Bass Drum:$25

15 inch 60's Zildjian Hi-hats:$25

Around how much is this stuff worth? I know the supra-phonic and the WFL 1121 Hi-hat stand are worth more than the rest...But how much? I'll add some pictures later. I'm also curios what heads I should put on the supra-phonic.

Hahaha. The guy was a bass player and he started up drums for a while. I'd say he was in his mid 60's.He had them on craigslist for 5 days with lots of interest. He ended up setting a day for everyone to come see them.I got there first with cash in hand and walked away with a smile.

So, since your the god of Ludwig! What heads should I drop on the snare and what would you say it's woth? I'm thinking around $300. The pictures will be up in a couple minutes.

Are you 100% sure its brass? A 1966 should be "ludaloy" aka aluminum. As far as heads......if you are going for an authentic LOOK....Ludwig's weathermaster heavy coated with clear snare side.....otherwise, the commonly available Remo ambassador coated/snare hazy is a good choice for that classic sound.

%100 sure. It is a brass color near the bottom of the insides(on both top and bottom) and it isn't magnetic. Except for a little on the outside because of the chrome. And get this! The snare came with the original leather case with the original owners named stenciled on it.

My 68 is like that and its aluminum. Maybe what you are seeing is the first layer of plating showing through the second and third? Chrome plating is a three step process......first plated in copper, then nickle, then chrome. You may be seeing shades of the copper thought the nickle.....

I'm pretty sure it is brass. Does a magnet stick to yours? I put the pictures up. The stamp might say 1965, would that change anything?

A magnet does not stick to brass or aluminum. Should not change anything being stamped 1965. It should be aluminum by 1965. If you stip all the hardware off to clean it, you can always weigh it. That will tell for sure. Is there any pitting in the chrome? Thats another sure sign of aluminum shell, but not always.....sometimes a rare non-pitted aluminum shell, like mine, shows up to fool one into thinking its brass....

No pitting. Except in 1 spot and under it is the copper color again. The shell is pretty heavy. I guess what I'm asking is how do I figure out if it is brass or not. And what is the difference in price between brass and aluminum?
