24x14 Bass Drum

Loading...

Heyo,

I've been looking around for some sort of nice old mahogany 24x14" bass drum and I haven't been able to find anything that isn't practically destroyed.

I'm mostly interested in pre-70s Ludwig or Slingerland, but I'll consider other options. I also enjoy duco and pearl finishes the most, but again, I'll consider other things as well.

I'm not looking for anything real specific right now; just wanted to see what's out there.

I have a 24" bass drum made by Broman. It has center lugs though. Don't know if I have complete hardware, but can check if interested.

As far as the name Broman goes drum-wise, they were very brief American made drums. The shell looks like an early Gretsch 3-ply. The badge is eerily similar too. It's not mahogany, looks like birch or maple.

I live in Ca. and am willing to ship if you want it.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I guess I should have specified in my original post - I'm looking for a complete drum of some sort.

Dirty is fine, but I'm looking for complete and in relatively good shape. I'm not really in the mood for a full restoration sort of project. I'm just itching for a new drum to play.

That Broman sounds interesting; I've never heard of that brand. It's not really what I'm looking for though, sorry!

Anyone? Drum bug?

I sure wish I could afford this 40s Ludwig on ebay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1946-Ludwig-Ludwig-14-x-24-WMP-Bass-Drum-with-Free-matching-Tom-Tom-/291615226625?hash=item43e59f3b01:g:z6sAAOSwkZhWRPJk

From ARCHxANGEL

I have a 26x14 Slingerland.

That's tempting due to the lack of 24's I've seen in the past few months.

I've never tried a 26" bass before, and I've read that they feel a lot "slower" than a 24". Is that true? I'm concerned that a 26" bass would be a bit too big for me since I'm mostly used to using 22" basses.
