Sonor Teardrop Badge Logo Size?

Loading...

Hi,

I've been getting an early 60s teardrop Sonor kit together and It's nearly complete. I've pictures here: http://tinyurl.com/qde6q7 . I have also found some original, though slightly later, stands to go with it: http://tinyurl.com/l5qaqp

The kit is going on display at the National Drum Fair in Birmingham (UK) in September so I need an oriiginal looking bass drum reso head. I know which logo to use and I know a man who can cut one for me, but I want to get the size right. Would any of you good people have an original head that you could get the measurements from please? There is also a logo at the bottom of the head (just the beaters). The other thing which it would be nice to know is whether the original heads were smooth or coated. I'm guessing that they were smooth!

Many thanks,

Fen

Hi Fen,

I assume that this website can help you:

http://www.sonormuseum.com/1968britcat/britcat1.html

And should you need spare parts, this guy is great (he has

a special Sonor spare parts section):

Hi Fen, good to "see" you around these parts too. Try also the sonor museum forum at:

http://www.sonormuseum.com/forum/

(if you haven't done so already)

Cheers!!!

Thanks Ralf- I already have Tam's catalogue and I'll estimate the sizes from the photos if needs must. I also know of Gerd's excellent site Cool1

Hi Pedro- Fancy meeting you here! I'll re-post on the Sonor forum too. The logo on your teardrop set bass reso looks good. Did you do it yourself?

Hi,

If you could measure the logo for me (and the hammer logo at the bottom) that would be a great help. Thanks. Cool Dude

I don't know where the Sonor Museum is based, but going by the spelling of catalog(ue) and rumo(u)r here http://www.sonormuseum.com/ I'd guess it's west of the Atlantic Ocean.

After several attempts, I didn't manage to register with that forum. I don't know why, but I couldn't get it to work.

Many thanks for that - very good of you! Cool Dude

Clapping Happy2

I notice that you have metal hoops on that bass drum. I think that was a 70s change.
