Hey, that´s a really nice looking set you got there!

In fact I don´t know much about Pearl drums, but have you been trying the helps on this site yet?

What is to find, if you go on the "badge"-page is, that the badges your drums have on´em tell that they might be from 84-85.

But there´s another aid in this forum: Click under "Important Web Site Pages" "Identify Drum Form", this will - maybe - help you to find out more about your drums.

Or any Pearl-specialist who´s a member of this forum will have a look into this thread and knows more about your kit.

I Looked almost everywhere I could find info ... I found almost everything I wanted to know but not if it was a first or a second generation world tour kit!

enyway it sounds great and I love it! ... I juste love to know everything on what I own!

A little back ground on your set of drums.Pearl came out with the World series drums in 1986 as a mid-level line of drums,two series were made the WX and WLX both had the same shell's made out of 8 ply wood-two piles of linden[inside]5 plys of mahogany [in the middle]and one outer ply of birch..The WX series were covered like your set,the WLX series were high-gloss lacquer finish..Pearl made these drums from 1986 to 1991 pearl changed the series to SLX prestige session elite same shells,then in 1994 change the series to SPX,then in 1997 change the series to SRX change the shells to 7ply maple on the inter and outer plys with mahogany in the middle..Then in 2001 change the series to SRX session Custom 6 ply maple shells then in 2004 another series change the SRX became SMX with the same shells as the SPX 6 ply maple shells,,Mikey

I also play the wlx series, and here's some info:

Wlx has the same shells as Dlx, but the hardware (tom arms etc.) are taken from Export series, also variety of colours was limited.

From the lugs of your set I can see, that your set is made -90s.

For toms, I use clear Remo Emperor as top skins, and Ambassador below, as the shells are (to my opinion) quite echoing because of the inner laying. Emperor demps it a bit, some call it too Hi-Fi sound but I love it.

And for bass, I use clear Remo PS3 on both sides, that flows our skinny guitarrist away after a heavy kick. :)

Overall, very good drums and very good value for money!

according to what i was told, that hardware is second generation, about 89'ish, which would mean the wood is a better grade than the first world series kits. I have the same kit, also in chrome but i lack the snare at the moment. nice kit!

I am a huge fan of these old WX/WLX; currently playing 8" 10" 12" 14" 18" WLX, emperor, natural satin birch with a custom bell bronze 14"x5,5" snare drum, I just got hold of a 12" 13" 16" 22" "coral red", pinstripes, in pretty cool shape: this Ferrari red is gorgeous!Yes Sir, and should buy a WX next week: nice platinium wrapped shells with a ten lugs world series snare, hardware/ cymbals: 130€ only (160$)

really fine industrial craftsmanship, great sound with thumping bottom (birch+mahogany); sells for peanuts; really worth a try
