need info on sonor drums

Loading...

Ive found some old sonor drums for sale 14x22 bass 9x13 tom and 16x16 floor. Bass has just lugs no heads or hoops, the 13 has just the top set of lugs and hardware, the floor is pretty much all there. The 13 also has a very minor delamination on the bottom. The tension rods that are there are slotted (weird looking to me lol) and the 3 included hoops are all single flanged. The thing Im not so sure about are the lugs... apparently they are plastic or "plastichrome" and I was just wondering if they are even usable or if i got these would I need to replace them with somthing that would line up with the mount holes? Also are the drums worth anything as they sit even just as shells if I had to go that route?

Thanks, Dan

Hy

what we need would be some pics:-) But sounds like you have a Sonor Action there! If so, the lugs are plastic but useable!

With a 13x9, it`s a swinger, the others had a 12x8, single rack, if it`s missing a tom than it could be action that had 12x8 and 13x9. That`s not worth the efforts if it is not complete. The later Swingers were mid and then Pro level. (different lugs and hardware)

The hoops are teardrop used after cancellation, in that year the Champion and Super Champion were the bees knees.

Those there were bottom of the barrel beginners kits priced to move.

In that condition, I`d shelve it as a parts kit. The shells are beechwood and very good quality, but after drilling are unique to those series, the Ranger and Action and Medley kits are interchangeable with it so there is a small market for parts. The hoops are the best seller.

One last question that I cant seem to find on these... what is the mounting hole spacing? I saw one pic on the fleabay and it looked to be about 2 inches center to center... is that close and if so would most older pearl stuff fit it because if thats the case, im gonna buy these for the shells if I can get em cheap

$50 aint bad at all, SONOR specifically designs their drums so they are not compatible with other makers or even other series, but these budget drums share the same parts and wont do for drops, champs or Phonics.
