Johnny....for 1 thing...you can not stamp into the metal after the cymbal is made....so...I just assumed...BR was Buddy......just as GK is.......get it?..I don't think they would go thru all that for a nobody!I have no clue how the older guy in Jersey got them.....didn't,t ask.........I just grabbed around 10 cymbals from him...and I stressed..THEY HAD TO BE THIN......They came UPS .....and I had a very nice surprise!..Still fishy..?
This has me curious. If you cant stamp a cymbal after it's been made then how did Zildjian stamp the trademark logo into all their cymbals......after they were made? Not trying to be a smartass just trying to understand the logic behind the statement.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
I think he means once it leaves the factory, but I'm sure there's a way someone could stamp a cymbal with initials. Perhaps using these.

Yep that I understand, But once the cymbal is trademark stamped it's in it's finished state no? So why would the factory trademark stamp be any different than hand stamping initials into them later? As long as the initial stamp is done correctly (supported properly underneath) and not done like your playing whack a mole with no support underneath. Wood bucks or leather forming bags as support examples.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I'd be inclined to think stamping after the cymbal has cooled might result in cracking due to the rigid brittle state of the metal. However the machine-hammering takes place at this stage so I guess not? I youtubed this subject but since they now lazer-engrave the logo it's pretty hard to find an answer...

I am just going by what I read on Cymbalholic..they said you can not stamp into the metal after it cools..as said..cymbal will crack.....try it sometime! :-)
I have sets of those alpha & numeric metal stamps... But I would not go near a cymbal with them... Best thing for Id purposes is an engraving tool or even a Dremmel with the correct bit.. (We also have a gent at the local shopping mall who is a competent and reasonably priced engraver)...
Cheers
