This here is my favorite snare. A solid red, yes no sparkle, WFL kit. Now how many of them have you ever seen? None? :p It was bought by my grandpa sometime in the early 60s. The actual kit was delivered to the store in 1958. We assume it is early 60s because the Zildjian cymbals are from that period along with the speedking pedal. He used it for years in his firefighter band. After that the kit was used in our family band. Now....now it's sad. It sits in storage 99.9% of it's life. I wish I had more time to dedicate to it.
I have the whole kit btw. It's much easier to pull out just a snare drum :p
To this day I believe it's the best sounding snare drum I've touched. Beating out even my late 20s Black Beauty. Just something about that wrap..it sings. That red is also a looker; it catches everyone's attention when it is brought out.
Wow!! I knew the membership owned WFL drums!! Could you show me more please?
Cheers
I have a WFL flat base snare stand in really good condition if any of you guys are interested. Figured someone may want it for the complete kit. Only asking $20. Some gorgeous kits in here.
This is my latest addition - A rare WFL 5 x 14 with Zephyr lugs and straight hoops.
Absolute killer sets in this thread and Batterhead you can post those pics all day long far as I'm concerned. :) Still think it's very cool they are your one and only kit from forever ago...that's the way to do it, if you can....I couldn't :)
