Sell it, buy what you want instead.

You will save yourself a packet of grief and regret. Also, if you do that, you will be selling one drum set and buying another. IF you do the other, you will be wringing your hands and buying a new drum set.

Dunno, depends on the state of the kit and what you want. If it's in a state "players kit" or lower and you can make a drum of it that suits you, why not. Big R's sounds very good IMHO.

On the other hand, if you sell it regardless its state and add the money you'd spend on brackets and wrap, you'll be able to buy something that suits you better. And you keep a kit in it's original state.

I didn't pay very much for this sweet Big R kit, so rewrapping it would be WAY cheaper than trying to buy a script Rogers! :)

I'm definitely not one to ruin a vintage kit or bastardize a sweet vintage kit by parts stripping, so that really isn't an issue here at all. This kit is a players beater at best with wrap seams coming up and gouges in the wrap as well.

All I really need is a standard size collar clamp to make the tom mount work correctly

Apparently you have not yet priced the wrap.

Price of wrap, +/- "your skill level" X the heartache of stripping and prepping / "that went badly" = Packet of Grief.

Priced the wrap and it's not cost prohibited and I have a great way to remove the glue from the shells that is fast and non damaging to the shell!

= Not a very difficult task as I've done rewraps before, but not using my newest glue removal process however :)

Cost of having some Precision green sparkle wrap FAR outweighs looking at stale old New England faded/discolored white wrap with yellow blotches here and there + gouges!
