12" brass snare drum Identification

Hi all, I just bought this snare drum. Anyone care to take a guess? I've no idea who made this snare drum, but it appears to be 1920's/30's single tension brass snare with two beads in the shell and a "Tango" style strainer. I think it's European, but not sure.

Here are some photos.

Thanks in advance for any information.

As I can see it's Sonor 40's or identical Trowa 50's (difference was that Trowa have had a blue label as "water decal" on the shell).

Cheers,

George.

Thank you George. You saved the day! I was beginning to think it was Sonor or Trowa myself.

This drum is actually 11" (28cm) I managed to find an 11" coated Ambassador which wasn't easy. Here is a very rough audio / video of the drum.

Did Sonor make a 28cm snare like this one? Danke!

Not bad for an 11" snare.

Gave me a fantasy: a small jungle kit, made from drums like these, 16 inch bass drum, 13 inch floor tom. Vintage-jungle. Fusion cooking.

That's what I'm going for. I have 11" Hi Hats to go with the 11" snare a 16" bass drum, 9" tom (another rare sizes) 12" as a floor tom. 14.5 paper thin crash, 17" UFiP as a Crash / Ride.

Hours of fun!
