Slingerland cloud badge and wrap identification

Hi, in this photo you can see the badge and the wrap on an old Slingerland parade drum. I'm not sure if it's 20's, 30's or 40's. I was also hoping somebody could tell me what Slingerland called this wrap. Sparkling Blue Pearl is my best guess. I know they used a sparkling blue pearl later on, but it looks a little different on this particular drum. This is a really nice marcher with tube lugs, but it's missing the strainer, wood hoops T-rods and claws. It's set up as a 10 x 14 Floor Tom with triple flanged hoops at the moment.

Looks like late 30's to early 40's badge. Hopefully the expert panel can nail it down closer for you. My bass has the same badge but long streamline lugs.

That's blue sparkle. Slingerland used several different shades of blue over the years ranging from an almost aqua type to a very dark, almost purple shade but they used the same name for all of them.

Click on the vintage drum identification link at the top of this page and then select Slingerland drums. You should find more information than you probably need, and from a true expert.

Probably early 1950's Sparkling blue was not offered in the 20's, 30's, or 40's. Because this is a marching drum, they were probably just using up old badges. Thus, the cloud badge. The first reference I see for blue is in the 1953 catalog. Listed as just "Blue Sparkle".

That makes perfect sense as I bought the drum with a bunch of 50's era drums. I wouldn't normally buy parade drums, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this drum sounds as a floor tom. I'm going to take it out and gig it. One or two of the tubular lugs are a bit bent, but I'm going to try straighten them out a little. Not a bad player's floor tom.
