Mardi Gras Beavertail Set

Loading...

I think that this is one awesome drum set, it is a rare original Rogers Mardi Gras beavertail lug drum set in like new condition. This set has been well cared for - the finish is beautiful as is the hardware. The sizes are 20-12-14 and it is set up like a Buddy Rich Celebrity outfit, but the bass drum has the internal cymbal mount holes and the L arm mounts were used instead of the swivo collet plates. The set is pictured with my Mardi Gras beavertail dyna-sonic snare so it is at least shown as a Celebrity set would look like in original Mardi Gras finish with the beavertail lugs!

Old School,

Thanks this is the set that I have been looking for to complete my collection and satisfy this need to keep searching for cool vintage drums (I hope). I love this set and appreciate the opportunity to not only lay my eyes on it and handle it, but also to "beat" it a little too! They do sound as good as they look. A great set of drums.

That is a friggin' piece of art!!!

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I don't believe a cooler set of stands was ever made. I simply love those swan leg stands. There's something about them that is just so "right". I will eventually get a Rogers kit....in time. I really like the look of those. It is "complete".

mcjnic,

I have to agree in this case I really think the stands and the hardware enhance the look of this set. I think that Rogers had the best hardware of the time beautiful, elegant & functional. I love the look of those "swan leg" stands too, they are my favorite. The "Giant Snare" stand came as NOS from Tommyp too.

backbeatkeeper,

That is exactly what I think too, this is like art & history that makes music too!

Thanks for the comments mcjnic & backbeatkeeper! It is great to have a set like this to be appreciated.

Agogobil,

Thank you!

On a side note I noticed that you are from St. Louis - that is where these drums were originally ordered and one of the subsequent owners of this set worked at the Drum Headquarters in St Louis.
