Is this series a sought after snare drum or is it more of an entry level?...I think it has 10 lugs but I have not seen it yet.

My understanding is that this is an entry level drum set. Snare would be worth around $40-$50.

Do you mean the Sonor D505?

If so, it's not entry level

The d505 is a deep drawn ferromanganese shell and typically has 10 lugs.

If it has 8 lugs, it will be a "normal" phonic snare (not ferromanganese).

Very nice sounding, versatile snares with Sonor quality. If I am correct, the D505 is 5.75 inch deep, the D500 5 inch, the D506 6,5 inch and the D508 8 inches. The 5,75 is next to the D508 the rarest of the series.

Check this comparison video for an idea of its sound:

Yes, its a D505. Not seen it yet, but it sounds as if its fine..At 250.00, seems on the low side, unless that's the going price??

Asking about '505' is confusing since there is also Sonor Force 505 line which is an entry level, modern kit.

D505 is a great ferromag seamless snare, nothing to be ashamed of when used next to overrated Ludwig Supraphonic.

There are some Sonor snares out there that can beat D505 (like HLDs for example) but this one is good enough and versatile.

The D505 is the "normal Phonic snare" with 10 lugs.

Like magnus said, it, s a Phonic cataloged snare. It, s ferro and kicks ass.....mine is in like new condition from 79, be sure about it, s hight, the ferro family is only fractions apart. Its, top crop as far as Rock snares go. There will be a three didit date stamp inside and show the badge because Centennials have different badges and small logo lugs.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
