Hello Mitch,
Ohh my gosh, I would have thought that shipping dough
would have arrived sooner than that
Jeez sorry for the delay...pal
Thats weird I sent it right out
maybe beause it had to get to Canada ?? I dunno?
Yeah I haven't touched a drum since I got the word about moving
That situation seems to have stabilized at least for the time being
I will soon get back to things as normal
these pieces will make nice inlays the match is great
Not so sure about covering the big missing chunk ...what would you recommend for the glue?
No worries at all Ken it arrived in fine time! With the mail ya takes your chances eh?
Glad to hear your space situation has stabilized - of course you wouldn't be doing repairs in the middle of all that, I forgot all about it actually.:o
I've been using this "Home Bond" contact cement in a spray can. Looks like a Canadian product but I'm sure there's something like it where you are. I often wonder why we use rubbery glue on drum shells - seems like a real damper.....but it is quick!
Planning to put a maple veneer on the remaining MIJ shells I own, 20" kick, 12X7.5 tom, 13X4.5 snare. I'll use wood glue for that, seems the right thing to do...

Hi Mitch,
I'm planning on doing a drum wrap soon using wraps from precision drum wrap. They suggested using 3M 30NF Fastbond Contact Cement, however I can't find it for purchase in Canada. Do you know if "Home bond" is similar? How have your results been using it?

Well, the Home Bond worked, it is contact cement, but the first can I got, the product came out like silly string, if you remember that stuff - not good. The second can produced the expected spray. However I am sitting here looking at a can of 3M Super77 Classic Spray Adhesive. I wrapped one shell very successfully with it. If it's not contact cement it sure acts like it, and I got it up the street at Down Town Lumber [heh], which is a Home Hardware outlet. I went there just yesterday as well and I saw another 3M contact cement product in a black can [the Super77 is maroon can].
In short, these 3M products look to be available up here now, if not specifically the 30NF Fastbond.

Cheers! Thanks for your quick reply.

No worries - I had been sitting staring at this page since my last post of 07-30-2014, thanks for snapping me out of it ...lol
Let us know if you come across the actual 30NF, and I'll take a walk back up the street to see what precisely is on that shelf. Once I get my DIY silver glitter wrap sussed out, I'll be needing to cover a whole Club Date kit + maybe a couple other shells as add-ons. It's always good to know what's available...
