Check out the auction and YOU tell me if you would pay this much for this kit!

Premier's Spirit of Lily kit doesn't even come close to what this guy wants!

JOHN BONHAM

Reissue Replica Kit

MY PRIDE & JOY!!

What you are looking at is so much more than merely a Ludwig Reissue Drum Set... It is a dream come true, an old and very dear friend, my absolute favorite drum kit of all time (or at least the 35+ years I have been drumming) and one of the best sounding drum kits that you will ever find... EVER!!

I was watching the news once and the reporter made the simple statement, "Drastic times call for drastic action." While that statement was no mystery at the time, it has become very relevant to me lately and is why you are reading this right now...

As much as it breaks my heart to say good-bye to my old friend, everything you see and that is listed below is up for sale - either all as one unit or individually. (Within reason... I'm not selling each item piece by piece - drum shell pack, cymbal package, tympani, etc...)

I have spent several years getting this kit set up "Just right for ME!" While it may not be John Bonham's actual kit, or even an exact vintage replica of his kit... When you sit behind that baby and tear into "The Immigrant Song" or "Black Dog" - you feel like you are John Bonham!! Even if the feeling only lasts for 3:15... It's a damn good feeling if you're as big of a John Bonham fan as I am!!

What you see in this listing:

[*]22" Ride (#836007)
[*]WuHan 24" Gong

[*]Ludwig Hercules Throne
All of the batter side drum heads are Remo Clear CS Black Dot Heads just like Bonham played on his kit, with exception to the bass drum head - it is a Remo Clear PowerStroke3 Head with a big black sticker that I had made to keep the "Bonham look" but gives it a warmer, punchier sound. The resonance heads are still the stock Ludwig Clear Heavy Heads that came on it originally.

There are a couple of short hairline cracks on the 14" Tom and on the bass drum, I believe. They go from the lug holes to the edge and do not have any effect on the sound what so ever! They are not chipped, either... Just a hairline crack is all.

My Buy It Now price is $10,000.00, which agreeably is a bit high even for everything that is included. I also accept reasonable, intelligent offers on part or all of this kit!! Some of you may know the words to George Thouroughgood's old song, "1 Bourbon, 1 Scotch, 1 Beer", which is quite relevant to this listing as such:

"Wanna tell you a story,

About the house-man blues

I come home one Friday,

Had to tell the landlady I'd-a lost my job

She said that don't confront me,

Long as I get my money next Friday

Now next Friday come I didn't get the rent,

And out the door I went

So I goes to the landlady,

I said, "You let me slide?"

I'll have the rent for you in a month.

Next I don't know

So said let me slide it on you know people,

I notice when I come home in the evening

She ain't got nothing nice to say to me,

But for five year she was so nice

Loh' she was lovy-dovy,

I come home one particular evening

The landlady said, "You got the rent money yet?",

I said, "No, can't find no job"

Therefore I ain't got no money to pay the rent

She said "I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job"

Said "I seen you today you was standin' on a corner,

Leaning up against a post"

I said "But I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day"

She said "That don't confront me,

Long as I get my money next Friday"

Now next Friday come I didn't have the rent,

And out the door I went"

So keeping that thought in mind, please feel free to submit any reasonable offer to me and help a Bonzo Brother out of a bind! (The worst that could happen is that I laugh hysterically at your offer and decline...)

Thanks for your time and God Bless...

The guy states quite clearly that his BIN price is high and is looking for resonable offers.. hey i say you ask what you want if no one is interested then i guess you need to rethink your auction.. but i do not blame him for not just giving it away for a quick sale, to many people want something for nothing... those reissue kits are getting hard to find..

Obviously the price is too high, but dang!!!, that's a nice kit. I sincerely like it. If I was looking, I would put in an offer. Good stuff. Glad to see someone out there doing something interesting with drums.

Reissue kits hard to find?? HUH?

You can still get them from ANY Ludwig and Paiste Dealer. And for a LOT LESS than this guy wants!

And if we're going for a true replica of JHB's kit, wouldn't that gong be a larger Paiste Symphonic?

New, the shell pack is $2,743.00 give or take a buck. Could you not put your own Zep kit together for around $5k to $6k?

If you go with used bits, you could likely come in well under $5k.

I would think a BIN of $6K would get a bit more attention. Just my $0.02.

At that price, it should include a Swiv-o-matic tom holder

This is someone that has really lost his mind. Then again it is those crazy people that end up with the big money. Well, maybe not.... If this is a VDF member, please come forward!

Ebay Item #150360483835

Slingerland/Custom Variable-Vent 18" Floor Tom Prototype

This is a semi split-shell 18" floor tom designed to incorporate a variable area vent in the manner of a bass-reflex speaker enclosure. The variable area vent allows reinforcement of a fundamental frequencey of your choice as the environment and/or musical selection demands.

The shell halves are secured by means of a second set of 4 chrome legs and the dimensional polypropylene reflector is held integral to the shell halves with a modified Rogers "clutch"-type muffler assembly and lubricated sliders at the edges.

The vent is adjustable from 0" to ~5.5" in width by approximately 180 degrees in circumference. Initial tests indicate that the 5.5" vent most effectively reinforces about a 40Hz fundamental with smaller vent sizes reinforcing progressively higher tones.

The maple shells, Sticksaver rims and lugs are all vintage Slingerland and are in good shape. Top head is a virtually new Pearl Pro-Tone and the bottom is a clear Remo that could use replacing.

Hopefully the pictures will tell the story better than I can!

This drum can reach some AWESOME LOWS!!!!!

I am currently analyzing a second iteration of this drum in an anechoic chamber with a sweep freq. analyzer and decided to sell the prototype to keep the project funded.
