I hadn't bought anything much for a while and was starting get withdrawal symptoms. This has been remedied with some withdrawals from my bank account.
After picking up and cleaning the 20s Ludwig snare last week, this week I picked up an early 70s Premier B303 kit in black from a fellow forum member. It's not something I need but I have a bit of a thing for these mahogany shelled Prems. This one is unusual as I haven't seen many in black or with an 18" deep floor tom, both of which were used by Keith Moon. It's a bit scruffy but it'll come up good with some love and attention. 22/13/14/16
Then there's the mixed set. Early Yamaha bass and tom, Tama floor tom, Olympic stands, Premier throne, unknown cymbals etc. But what really caught my eye was the snare. I've yet to get this kit but I'm betting on the snare being a very early COB 2000. It has the earlier badge and beer barrel hoops and a lack of pitting on the chrome. Needs a throw handle but that won't be too hard to find and it has a the original double ten wires in place. It's maybe a bit like finding a Ludwig trans badge COB Super except not worth much:) Still, the whole lot was around US$150
Finally there's the old Carlton 18" tenor. I already have one of these but couldn't resist getting this one. I use my current one as a bass drum and it's brilliant. Maybe a double bass kit?
I've got some cleaning to do.
