Removing rust from shell wood

Loading...

Hello.

I am in the middle of restoration of a not so old Pearl Export 1997 which had been through harsh environments.

I am starting to restore the tons now and noticed that under the inner screw washers that hold the lugs there is a very bad rust stain on the plywood. The washers will go straight into the "metal conditioner" which I mentioned on this post this post but the wood stains remain a mistery to me on how to remove them.

I have heard of oxalic acid or even sanding the place.

What would you recommend?

Thanks.

Jeffo.

Please pardon me, I posted twice in error.
