Having read the feedback over the last few days I am considering selling off these drums as they may be over my head. Other than the L.A. floor tom, I think I would like to see them remain together and go to someone that will give them the proper attention they deserve. I may split them in two as one BD has a Rogers two tom mount with the other having a single Swic-o-matic mount for their respective toms.

I know there is big value in dismantling them and selling them by the piece on ebay, but I'm not that guy and would not sell them to that guy.

I do have some original cases and they are stored individually in blankets or cases on shelves in a dry warehouse. They were stacked on that cart for picture taking purposes.

I wish I were in the right financial position to donate them to a museum , but I'm not. I would like to realize maximum value to the right buyer that will do these drums justice.

Now, how to go about marketing them to obtain maximum value without having them end up in the hands of a butcher (no disrespect to meat cutters)

Maybe some of you on this forum will know the right person.

I'm in no hurry, if I were I would list them on ebay and it would be a crap shoot as to whether a proper steward would end up with them.

Yes, please do. That way he will document the restoration and we can all enjoy the restored kit. I do love a good restoration thread. Helps keep my GAS in check. It's like an appetite suppressant for my gear lust.

There are plenty of old drum sets that are begging to be restored as closely as possible to original condition. I don't think this kit is one of them, and it will never belong in a museum. The finish is mismatched and thrashed, they're super vulnerable, and the shells are likely out of round and will only get worse without bottom heads.

I vote to drill! And get someone very experienced to fix up/match/restore the lacquer finish.

You'll still have a crazy rare and special kit when all that's done, and one that's then worth taking out of the house and playing!

If you are considering having them restored I would strongly recommend having them done by someone who is well known in the industry. After all these are Camcos and the 1st question from a prospective buyer will be.. "Who restored them" Most Camco players will not pay thousands for a kit that was brought back to life by someone new to vintage drum restoration. They could potentially be worth less when finished...
