Rare Camco set: To restore or not restore, that is the question

I'm new to this drum forum and would like to start a debate. I scored this 24" Double Bass Oak Lawn set the other day. It's a monster that goes: 12/13/14/16/20/24/24. It appears to be Walnut with a 3 Ebony toms added. All have the same badges. They all look like original finishes with tons of patina. I have been into antiques since childhood and in that realm refinishing is not advised in most cases. Same can be said for vintage automobiles. They are only original once as they say. What say you?

Welcome! That is quite the score, Is it normal for every drum to have only one hoop?. I would refinish them and make them look pretty again then keep them forever.

I'm with Jeff on this one... make em all match finish-wise and play them forever. Are you certain those are Oaklawn Camcos and not L.A. Camco's? Check the badges on (all) of the drums. When I first saw the photo, I thought it looked like -two different- Camco kits smushed together. Could be the lighting in the photo that changes the shade of the drums like that.

I would just clean and polish them. I would not refinish. Like you said, they are only original once.

Thanks for the input thus far. I took a 2nd look, all have the Oaklawn cloud badges with the tips on the bottom with the exception of the big floor tom, it has an L.A. cloud badge

Concert Toms were the norm for awhile in the 70's.

And Bass Drums with only one head too.

Looks like a Rogers Dynasonic snare drum. Maybe 6.5" deep? Hard to tell from the pic.
