Ha ha !! John, they are good I am using a large rubber eraser and I wrap the soap soaked sand paper around the eraser, The trick is to soak the sand paper for at least a couple of hours before using it, I then spray the wrap surface with windex, and then use very wet dawn soaked sandpaper wrapped around the rubber eraser, This way you have even strokes as you sand also I use a circular motion to sand not up and down strokes.

Mark a lot if hardworking then when you try to sell it people want to low bal you this is restoration at it's best

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp





once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Gary that's an Idea, except that will need to sprayed with a spray gun, Don't have access to one.

Actually mark I get it in from Mohawk in spray cans 3 coats it's as good as a spray gun

See, now I am confused here, but I really dont know much about the finish on the old drums. Wraps such as WMP back in the day were never sprayed with lacquer, were they? And would lacquer properly adhere to that wrap, I would think not. Im not saying it wont work, it just sounds like a bad idea to me. Now of course if we were talking wood drums that would be different. Has anyone ever sprayed lacquer on a Delmar type of wrap? I am interested in this. I remember a thread a long time ago from an English guy that had a Ludwig floor tom that was really bad, he sanded just as Mark has done but Im sure he polished and buffed it back to a real nice shinny finish. Mark, Im not saying your doing anything wrong, just interested in this project.

Thank you Gary I'll give it a look. I am going to try a real good polishing first, I have a lambswool buffing cloth for my orbital variable speed sander, I'll see how that turns out if not 100% satisfied, then nitrocellulose spray it is.

Gary if I don't get at least 650 to 700 out of it, I'll gladly keep it. These are super hard to find.

We had almost a solid week of rain here in the south a few weeks ago, which gave me a ton of time to sand on this wrap. I have finally gotten it done. I will now polish and buff for a final pic to come of the end results for all to see.

But here it what it now looks like with the final sanding, 150,220,320,600,1200,2000 grit wet sanding.
