Looking to buy a 1960s/early 70s Ludwig 14" floor tom in champagne sparkle.

It does not need to be a museum piece, but I do want it to be in round and in at least decent shape.

There is, but the bottom of the shell is not round, you have to "squeeze the shell" to get a head on there. That seems like a bad idea to me.

If it's a shell you can grab on the cheap, Mitch designed a simple truss system using the lug holes to help put a shell back in round. It's not like it can't be done, it's just a gamble that the shell will be a *good candidate for the fix. (*Just egg shaped as opposed to wavy. An egg you can fix, wavy is mission impossible.) One side is in-round you say? I think it can be saved.

If you can grab it cheap enough, go for it.

Too many great drums to list here!

Hmm...the guy is asking $480, which seemed high to me considering it is not in round. What do you think?

I agree, way too high. At $200 - $250 it's a buy. Out of round, no more than that.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. $200 or so, and I'd give it a shot, but nearly $500!?!? Uh, no.
