The WATER BASED BIN fails where the SHELLAC does not! The water based BLUE LABEL has it place and use.. but .. it will NOT hold back staining/ink etc. like the shellac. BIN red label here, and... shellac will positively NOT raise any grain in the wood like the water base "can". Like mentioned.. specific uses .. which in Anthony's case is why I recommended the red label SHELLAC based BIN.

I don't understand this - most of the paint is gone and doodles minimized, and you have a solid lead on a product that will prevent the doodles from bleeding through a new paint job - why give up now?Mitch

Thanks for the encouragement, guys - we'll see. Got a lot on my plate and small discouragements enlarge very easily in my situation.

Oh, I didn't really look to close at the image that I linked to. I have never used any water based finish other than latex paint for walls, I hate water based finish. Im sorry for the misunderstanding, guess I better look closer at what I link too. Like I said, you can get a good buzz from it, hence the solvent based product.
