Well since you guys are enjoying the thread I thought you would like to see my setup for ripping the inlay strips. Its simply one of my push sticks clamped to the fence to hold the thin material down. And I taped some veneer scrap to the table saw top so the piece Im working with wont slide under the fence.

The other pic is the shells with one coat of gloss. Notice my natural birch inlay in the kick drum hoop.
