HELP, HELP, Ludwid Super Classic

Loading...

Does anyone have a photo of the underside of a 1950s Super classic? Specifically where the snares meet the super classic strainer. My snare drum is missing parts and the original snares. I am trying to figure out what I need to make it work in the orginal fashion. I was told by a local shop it needed a special set of snares. (its not the super snsiative). Thanks.

Puresound makes two types of snares for the WFL super classic. One type is for the regular butt end that uses string, three hole type IIRC. The other is for the dropped mounting point strainer. IIRC it has one hole on each end of the snares and mounts to the butt end with one screw. If you have the later butt end from a newer Ludwig using the superclassic throwoff, the kind that mounts to the shell with three screws and has a large rectangular opening in it for the snares to mount to, then you can still get those through Ludwig. Thats the type where the butt end of tthe snares are mounted to a flat plate and the plate screws to the butt end with three scres IIRC.

Hope this helps....

what does "three hole type IIRC" mean?

I appreciate the help...but you lost me. The strainer has 2 screws. The butt end has 4 screws and camps the snare rope/thread.

IIRC= If I Remember Correctly.....x-mas3

You need the Puresound WFL 3-hole type for the Superclassic throwoff if you have a regular butt end, which it sounds like you do by what you are describing to me....

Right. The butt end just "clamps" down on the string/thread. It reads WFL. You tighten the screws and it holds the thread.

Yep....you need Puresound's "3-hole WFL" vintage series snare wires. Check out their website.....
