Just the shell size.... 2000= 5.5"... 2003 = 6.5"..

I requested it be aluminum (vs steel), but as fate would have it the shell is brass! Don't ask me to account for this anomaly - I purchased it used sight unseen and the seller assured me that a magnet dropped right off and would not (even slightly) stick to it. Seller's assessment was quite correct as far as magnetism. The shell has a barely discernible weld up the side viewable from the interior, somewhat modernized crimped over bearing edges, and is extremely heavy with a "shimmy" to it if shaken while disassembled. There are so many 'unknowns' in the world of vintage drums - I learn something new almost everyday, and in this case am most pleasantly surprised!
