7/16" Eyelets/Grommets for Slingerlands

Loading...

Greetings,

Does anyone have any that are the short length (3/16") for the thin 3-ply 60's Slingerland shells?

I have a bunch of 3/8" eyelets that are short (3/16") but they are just a little too small for my existing Slingerland holes. I put them in and tighten/crimp them with my eyelet installation tool, and they pop right back out.

I know Jammin' Sam carries threaded 7/16" eyelets, but he will only provide those if you order wrap; they are not available as a stand alone item. Precision carries them too, but they are too long. I asked Precision if they could cut them down for me and they said "no".

The length of all my existing 3/8" eyelets (3/16") is perfect for the shells I have, I just need the eyelet diameter to be a tad bigger, thus I need 7/16" (as oppose to 3/8", or 6/16").

I need 3 of them. Thanks!

These guys have them. The grommets themselves are not much $4.49 ea. But when I asked about shipping and handling it was like $25. Time is money so the story goes. They might be more reasonable now? Worth a email anyway.

I ended up getting one off ebay for $5 total shipped. I forget who it was from sorry. Was a few years ago.

Slingerland used to use a small washer on some badge installs. I've seen it a few times. Could have been due to the wrong size hole drilled in the shell?

Yes, Chicago Drum and Restoration has both lengths of these repro grommets. Even better is that their shipping has finally come down! I just inserted my zip code right now and shipping was only $10. That's to the Los Angeles area. They used to charge $25, which was absurd! I guess they got lots of complaints about this and are finally in line with better shipping charges.

Remember, if you go with these grommets, you'll need the proper tool to flare them. Very difficult flaring these aluminum grommets! I've got the tool and will be happy to send it to you. I only ask that you return it!
