The d426 is a parallel action snare drum. I don't think the buttside would have looked like it does on your drum, nor do I think the bottom rim would have looked like on your drum. I am quite sure it was a seamless design, too.

It probably went out with the last of the Teardrops.
It could have gone out with the last of the Swinger series as well. SONOR started Swinger as a low end kit and by 73 it was a Mid to High end kit with Champion trim. They held snares for a while.
That throw shows up only in the 70`s cats. It`s on Action and Rocker plastic lug snares.
You don`t need to remove a lug. Is it heavy ? Two reasons you wont find a badge on vintage SONOR,....in the fifties, SONOR has a script logo that was painted on, and often washes or wears off. They switched to a badge after. During the early seventies SONOR put foil lick and stick badges on metal snares. They also put grommet held trademark badges on metal snares that went out with high end kits. 004 would be either April 60 or April 70, with that muffler, I bet 70, stick on badge.
It's a faint 004, sorta faded blue or black ink. could be the stick on badge.. may have been removed long ago. So this would be a 1970 April model. Good.. I at least guessed correctly the range.

in the '69 catalog it indeed states Seamless metal shell. So the shell may not be the same type. The bottom hoop you're right, on the parallel action snare would not have the 2 holes for snare string, because the snares all go across the surface much like a Ludwig Supersensitive model, so they would have to design the hoop differently I suppose. I would like to see a 1970 or 1971 catalog scan to see if this model would be in there. It seems that the next catalog scan is around '75 which is later lugs design.

Also in the description they called the throwoff a "beer tap" design. Additionally the hoops are described as "die cast" even though they appear the same as mine, they look die cast upon initial inspection but they're triple-flanged hoops.
Take a look at these known early 70`s cat. scans. The ..rootbeer... one has a metal D454 with your lugs and throw and it`s your drum with the first Swinger series. We know that because of the lugs and trim. The Blue one has the wood version and your lugs and throw.
Herein lies the problem for me and others. I have a D454 that looks nothing like it at all. First for me here I thought was wood re-rings but turns out to be SONOR built two different snares with the same name.
The date stamp by way of lugs and throw puts 004 at April 1970 and a D454. I got a 73 D454 just like the last pic.
Damn they sure changed that model a bunch. Center bead, hoops different, muffler different. Is that an 8 lug snare? Different throw, they basically retooled and changed everything except perhaps the snare wire. I can't see the snare in that catalog scan clearly enough to determine anything at all about the drum. I'm having a difficult time reading the description.
Your 454 was not produced nearly as long as mine.
