Star project

I wasn't looking for a project as I'd already bought an old Sonor snare this week and then a very cool old Premier snare (more on that later) and then this Star kit came along.

They were local to me and were being auctioned online but for some reason he kept increasing his reserve. He had offers much higher than I was prepared to pay so I gave them a miss. Then a couple of days later the seller called me and asked if was still keen. I told him I was nowhere near the money he'd been offered in the auction but he told me to come and have a look anyway. So $US75 later and here they are in my drum room. The wrap shows some wear and tear and is quite loose in places but it'll come up ok with a clean. All the heads are factory original and there are no mods. It's missing the BD spurs and snare. Should be a classy little kit when it's cleaned up.

Great score! I see there are alot of MIJ drums in your country. THANK YOU for saving (more than) your share!

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thanks Jeff and John. Yeah, it's not a lot of money but with all the work that I'll put into them the return when I sell them (I can't keep them due to lack of space) will be pretty tiny. It's definitely a labor of love but it's worth it for a cool little kit like this. I'll post photos when it's cleaned up.

Perhaps a friend or student would like them (and can do the cleaning)?

This is quite a rare find and a nice set.

Great find for that price.

Even though I know these are Stardrops, clean and all there, I like the red devil wrap.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Very, very nice. What did Star use for snare lugs during the "flanged teardrop" period?
