:DThat 14 and 16 make a perfect Gene Krupa sound.

Like a sound from another time.

It's beautiful dude.

I too have never really gotten to hear tacked toms.

I am now a fan.

Good wrist control playing there "skinsman".

With the tacked head work you have done,

you are now truly a SKINS-MAN.

Do you also do goat? rabbit? alligator?:D

"It rubs the lotion on its skin. IT RUBS THE LOTION ON ITS SKIN!"

I'll end up a Silence Of The Lambs serial killer, a mad-man fattening up young chicks in my basement for their skin! "But officer, they make the best sounding tacked heads!" LOL

To my ears, the tacked toms cut-off just right, without a lot of ringing over-tones. Just Oomph! and cut. No Moongel needed, they sing just right.

Here's a quick sound-file I made of the floor toms.

Cool clip! Great playing! Pretty darn decent sound actually and you do get an idea of the sound of the toms.

Cool John! Must be a ton of fun working on the drums so hard then finally playing them.

Thank you!

I knew you guys would get a kick out of 'hearing' the drums, thank you all for the kind comments. I was just noodling, but I was trying to play patterns that employ some dynamics so that you guys could hear the range of sounds the drums are capable of producing. I could have thundered and wailed my way through, but then you wouldn't hear any of the subtle sounds the drums can make.

For Jeff - Yeah, fun, but frustrating too because it isn't 'the entire kit' just parts of it that I get to play along the way. But better 'some' than none and it's fun to hear them as they come off the assembly line. I can already imagine the sound of the full kit in my head.

Glad you guys enjoyed the sound clip, I thought it would be a cool addition to the thread. Tomorrow I'm off to see a local metal sculptor about getting those broken metal parts repaired/brazed. I'm still waiting on one part to arrive from my buddy Mitch in Canada.

A sculptor who works in metal - what a great idea! Would be interested in/set up to work with many different kinds of metal, and making small joins look good.

Sent the part last Monday, it should show up real soon I'd think. Checked the bill for a tracking number.....um I guess you have to ask for that?

I have 11 of the rods left - if the part don't show, I'll just cut another and send it. Even if I use these rods on a 12" BD, should I ever find one, I'd only need 10.

Mitch,

No worries and no need to send another part. Canada/US mail is just slow. Sometimes I'll send things to a buddy of mine in the GTA and one time it'll get there in three days, the next time it'll take three weeks. There's no way to predict how long. It'll get here... :p

So GREAT with the video ! Very Krupa sounding drums in my opinion . I can't wait for the next video and the upcoming updates on the restoration . Thanks again for including us all in this .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Without you guys... this would all be just a lot of hard work and then me enjoying the drums by myself. Sharing it with you guys is what makes it special and gives meaning to it all. I'm not only happy to do it, it wouldn't be the same experience without all of you.

Thank - you- (All) for following along and being so supportive and encouraging. Just the kind of rocket fuel needed to power through a project like this one.
