Mid to late 70's Black Cortex Ludwig Rock Machine 5 piece - 6 ply drums - 22" kick, 13' & 14" mounted toms, 18" flor tom and 6.5" X 14" Supraphonic. Kit seems 99% original and specs/sizes are in line with the Ludwig catalogs of the time.
Price paid = $269.99
Kit needs a good cleaning, few minor parts and heads. The snare and 13" tom have cleaned up quite nicely.
Nice deal! The supra is worth around that alone!Yes Sir

If you go by what they are getting on eBay for these, it's potentially worth more than the $269.99. The snare cleaned up really nice, no flaking of chrome, minimal pitting, etc... From 5 feet away, it looks new!
A rounded corner badge Supra in the same condition, missing the tone control sold for over $500.00 back in May.

I have been searching deligently on eflay for some tama stagestar 18" kick drum kit. Last week I was routinly checking C L and there was a drum kit for $50. I called and emailed and she called me back. I asked what kind they were, She said stagestar. She also commented that they have been played hard and wrere pretty ruff. 18" bass, 14" FT' 13" metal snare and a 10" tom. The 12" tom and hi hat stand and kick pedal were missing. The heads were, indeed, beat up, but the drums were all dusty and cleaned very nice!

Don't tell my wife!
A friend of a friend purchased a vw bus for 25 bucks. in the back was a 50's wfl drum kit complete with the canister throne. My friend tells me about it. after a week or two waiting to go see it and thinking it was a newer ludwig we go up and and take a look at it. Its wmp in really good shape. we pull it out of his storage pod and its dusty but a beauty. i ask how much. he replys free as long as you play in a band with me. DEAL! loaded that sucker up took her home and cleaned the night away. there was a speedking pedal in the canister and it came with a ludwig standard snare. Best deal of my life.
So you got your vintage kit, finally? Great to hear. Nice kit to start with. Oh man...WFL. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet drum.
