Greetings from a Trixon noob!

Until 1964 , most Trixon kits left the factory with calf heads. Those that were fitted with mylar heads, had the original Ambassadors on them-----double ply, until ambassadors were changed to single ply heads, which Trixon continued to use.

I have 6 different custom made Remo formulations for for the old pre-64 TRixon metric drums( snare, 363 mm, floortom 426mm and 363mm and bass drums 500 and 550mm are the only affected drums----the rack toms almost always will take a 13" head), To get the drums to play the way they they would have originally, the Vintage Ambassadors seem to be best on the 363mm snare, coupled with an ambassador hazy; the Ambassador Rennaissance seems best for the 426 mm floor toms, Fibreskyn III for the 363 and due to the superb muffling latitude of all the Trixon bass drums, those heads can be more open and vibrant, with lots of choice to meet personal taste there. They really shine with a heavy calf on the batter and goat on the reso.

Thanx to all who posted advice regarding my Trixies!

I don't get around to posting here as often as I'd like due to my work schedule, but my Luxus kit is coming along quite nicely. Ingo Winterberg has been indispensable for parts.

Some additional info:

Inside the rack tom I located the numbers 625 1266. Am I correct to assume the build date was sometime in 1966?

The hoops are triple-flanged and match the examples depicted on Ingo's website, so I'm assuming they are original.

No dampers were included on this kit and there are no holes present in the locations where they would have been found. Might they have eliminated the dampers by the late 60s? If so, smart move on their part, imo. Less rattling and buzzing from a feature I never liked or used on any kit.

All that is left for me to hunt down, besides a silver croco snare (I know, "keep dreaming"), is the correct cymbal arm and tilter for the kick. I have a perfectly good mount/socket on the way and would just need the rest of the assembly to make it complete. Any leads on that would be much appreciated! Will be posting pics of this silver beauty once it's finished!

Appreciate the info on the diameter of the cymbal arm! Unfortunately, Ingo has no Trixon cymbal arms or tilters in stock at the present time. I've asked him to keep me in mind if he runs across any. I've learned to be patient about these things!

those cymbal tilters seem to be as rare as ...

my '67 Luxus kit has the arm, but it came with a flimsy non-Trixon tilter ... Gibralter makes a tilter that will fit on the arm, albeit a bit oversized - there is a set screw that will tighten down ... it's just not as snug as I'd like, and if I overtightened it, I'm scared it would bend the arm out of shape

I'm guessing your Gibraltar tilter is meant to accept the 12.7 mm diameter boom arm and would indeed be a sloppy fit if mounted on a 10 mm arm. How do you get it to stay in one place?

I fit some little pieces of 1/16" soft plastic shim in there. I imagine you could use a strip cut off of an old credit card, etc ...

On my 1967 Telstar Conical set, I use an MIJ cymbal arm that fits fine in the BD cymbal holder. I do not *like* the ball/squeeze design one bit, but thats whats there.

Trixon also made add on cymbal arms that bolted to the Hoop. I've been looking for one of those, as well as an authentic cymbal arm for a long time with no luck.
