Welcome

To my knowledge COB, so Brass inititally, but I THINK maybe Bronze on some of the later models? Please correct me if you know better.

Also its Supraphonic, just as an FYI

Supras initially were made of brass (1960-63) since then your regular Supra is made of Ludaloy, a kind of aluminium that Ludwig "invented".

there are also supras today made of brass or bronze, but that is not the common version.

Technically speaking: the shells of Supraphonics, SuperSensitive and Acrolite are the same, only difference being the 1st two being chromed, the acrolite not. the only significant differences are the different Strainers and the amount of lugs....

Actually "Ludaloy" is a marketing name that was invented, not the actual material. Ludaloy is the name they used for aluminum.....so all three are aluminum shells, supraphonic and super-sensitive are chromed ten lug shells, acrolite non-chrome 8 lug. Sound is very similar.

Super-Sensitive is a type of strainer, not a type of shell. You can get a super-sensitive strainer on any shell type they have.

Actually, you can only get them on the metal shell snares right now (aluminum, brass, or bronze). The wood shell snares are only offered with the regular p-85 throwoff or the new Millenium throwoff. While technically you are correct that it is a type of strainer, it is also a seperate model name on each of the metal shell snares.

...and...the original "supraphonics" that had brass shells, were not called supraphonics, they were called "Supers"...

And...to confuse things more, when Ludwig and Ludwig originally made the super sensitive snare drum in the 1920s, that name was for a drum with a "super" throw off...the same one we now call super sensitive, but then the "sensitive" designation would mean the drum also had snares under the top head. Got it? This WILL be on the test...
