the RIGHT buyer might give you $650, if they are looking to add on to an existing set, or get a hankering for some of the older sets

repost pestering just weakens your leverage because it announces lack of interest

i once sold a Vistalite floor tom for good money (after 2 months) and the buyer told me he'd been eyeing it for weeks and was worried someone was going to snap it up before he could raise the funds

in that case, the "mystery" played to my advantage, and i got full asking price... and kept the local listings free of clutter

I'm a Tama guy myself, but already have a few 22'' kicks. What I really want is a vintage Superstar 20'' kick and 14'' floor with legs! I have a feeling I'll be waiting a looooong time to see anything like that available :D

I have a white wrap Tama Superstar 14x14 rack tom that someone converted to a floor tom. They did a great job with it but again, it was originally a rack tom. It's an orphan drum.

Thanks for all of the advice. I have never had a problem selling kits on Craigslist, thus I never had to re-list them. I will definitely let the ads go for several weeks before re-listing. I'm tempted to go the ebay route as one just like mine just sold for $799. The problem is that no one wants to pay the real shipping costs. An estimate for me to purchase the shipping materials (boxes, bubble wrap etc.) plus the actual shipping is around $300. If I sell the kit for $799 with $100 in shipping, I have ultimately sold the kitt for less than $600 before ebay takes their cut. Drums are just tough to sell over long distances. Ultimately, I think I should keep these drums. I played them last night and they just sound awesome. I never have been a big fan of birch drums, but these sound different than any other kit I have played. The main problem is the agreement I made with the wife. If I buy one, I sell one. I may just have to put my foot down and not get laid for a month.

Although I won't recommend your spousal solution :) , I don't see why you can't reduce shipping cost well below what you forecast. Seems like you could get it all in one box? Remove all hardware from the 12 and 13 and they'll nest just fine. I did that recently with 15, 14, and 10 inch Artstar Cordia toms I sold here.

BTW, yes you should keep the Tamas. Yes they are undervalued. As we who grew up in the late 70s/early 80's will remember, these are the kits that reset the drum scene. Clean kits like yours in traditional depths will appreciate in value no doubt. Plus they sound awesome.

Good one! These are tempting. The natural look, the right sizes, original drum head, 35 years old ... I don't know much about Tama but you look a Yamaha birch kits from the same era and you're talking much bigger bucks.

Wow...that is no doubt,THE most desireable finish Tama ever made for Supes,......natural maple(no,repeat NO maple in the shells at all) ...100% Japanese birch.4 or 6 ply shells?4ply would have rerings.I have seen those kits go for close to a grand in standard sizes,which are much more desireable.And that 24" bass drum is a monster.

Like has been said,keep relisting,you'll get a good price.Hell, if I had the cash,I'd buy them myself.I love my vintage supes.
